The final project for FOU 120: 2D Form & Surface at UMass Dartmouth was a design proposal for one of two electric boxes in downtown New Bedford, MA. My design was ultimately selected for the electric box on historic Union Street, near “Plastic Rooster”, a work by Portuguese sculptor Bordallo II.

I was drawn in particular to the symbols that flowed through the pages of the city’s story, from nautical flag code to Underground Railroad quilts, from textile patterns to Adinkra symbols. My design balanced symbology with a desire to contribute a bright, playful atmosphere.
